The City of Jacksonville City Attorney’s office provides legal advice, representation, and other services to the City Council, Directors, and various City entities so that they may reach the goals of the City Council and Directors to enrich the lives of the citizens and maximize growth of the City.
“It is vital in a democratic society that public business be performed in an open and public manner so that the electors shall be advised of the performance of public officials and of the decisions that are reached in public activity and in making public policy. Toward this end, this chapter is adopted, making it possible for them, or their representatives to learn and to report fully the activities of their public officials”. The City Attorney’s Office is responsible for prosecution of excessively truant juveniles and their parents/guardians as outlined by Arkansas State law (ACA § 6-18-201) Pulaski County Special School District Student Handbook allows a maximum of Six (6) excused absences. When a student with Five (5) unexcused absences, his/her parents/guardian will be notified, once a student exceeds Five (5) unexcused absences the District will notify the City Attorney and the parent/guardian. The City Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of most DWI/DUI, traffic and City Ordinance violations in the Jacksonville District Court.
