Jacksonville
opened a public library in 1959, becoming a branch
of the Pulaski County Library. A new Jacksonville
library was built in 1969 on Main Street. In 1992,
the Jacksonville Library was re-named the Esther
Dewitt Nixon Library in honor of Mrs. Nixon, who
had been the Jacksonville librarian from the
library's beginning in 1959 until her retirement
in 1986. A new state-of-the-art library was
opened on February 14, 2009. For general

9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday
9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and
